A hundred dogs found hung to death in a landfill in Toledo

The Animal Amnesty has reported to the Department of Nature Protection (SEPRONA) of the Guardia Civil that nearly a hundred dead dogs have been found in the old landfill on the city of Toledo on March 15.

There are about a hundred dogs that were evidentally hanged because there skeletons carry knotted ropes, as well as many different trees. In addition, the association of animal defense has complained that another dog (of only one month old according to a veterinary surgeon consulted by them) has been found dead with a sack over his head in a jar left in the locality.

According Animal Amnesty has said, the mayor of Villatobas was ”aware” what happens in the town. They point out, regarding the discovery of hundreds of dead dogs, that this area is “the official colgadero people”, since “everybody” in this town is aware of what happens there.

The NGO’s spokesman has criticized the unwillingness of the authorities, that to “ignore” the “horror” of these animals, whose life expectancy is reduced to one or two years at most, after they had been used in the hunting season.

Also, the president of Galgos, Cristina Garcia, has reported the discovery last February 22 by four other unidentified corpses of dogs in the Borough of Sonseca (Toledo), which were found by agents of SEPRONA.

Garcia explained that the main problem confronting associations is the failure of the Animal Protection Act. According to the association without Borders Galgos the Castilian-La Mancha “is a terrible nightmare for the dogs,” since these animals are used as “throw away dogs”.

For its part, to these allegations, the mayor of Villatobas, Antonio Torremocha hasaccused the allegations made by the Tribuna de Toledo as “incredible”. There is limited truth to this allegation”.
