Lance Armstrong crashes out of Tour of Spain

Lance Armstrong, the seven-time winner of the Tour de France, withdrew from the Tour of Spain today after crashing out of the first stage and fracturing his collarbone.

The 37-year-old was involved in a fall with about a dozen other riders between Paredes de Nava and Baltanas, about 32 miles from the stage finish line. He was helped into an ambulance cradling his right shoulder and taken to hospital.
