The National Police have broken up five organized drug distribution groups in the provinces of Alicante and Murcia, with the seizure of 15 kilos of cocaine and arrested 41 people, according to sources today.
The arrests are the results of raids carried out during the weekend in the capital city of Alicante and the towns of Elda, Alcoy, Elche and Murcia.
The first arrests took place in the city of Alicante, in the vicinity of a school, where two people were allegedly involved in the distribution of hashish from a vehicle, in which they found 300 grams of hashish.
Also in Alicante, a man was arrested with 17 heroin “wraps”, who was trying to sell them at the time of his arrest.
The second raids took place in Elda, in the La Tafalera, where 10 house searches were carried out, resulting in fifteen arrests.
This police seized 40 grams of cocaine and 20 grams of heroin, and recovered items from burglaries, plus two shotguns, false documents, two vehicles and cash.
In the town of Alcoy, the police conducted 11 searches, which led to the arrest of 15 people and located nearly seven kilograms of cocaine.
This operation was launched after intercepting two Colombians in Villena (Alicante), as they were heading to Albany in two vehicles which were carrying 1.5 kilos of cocaine, 9,000 euros and seven kilos of various substances and prohibited drugs.
The National Police from Alicante moved to the city of Murcia to complete an operation against networks dedicated to drug trafficking.
In particular, three people were arrested, all of them Colombian, who had a coverage area across the towns of Alicante and Bigastro Muchamiel.
The last of these operations against drug trafficking was held in Elche, after two members of this network, a Colombian national, moved to Almeria airport to pick up a third person of Ecuadorian nationality, who acted as a ” mule”. At the time of arrest the “mule” was carrying three kilograms of cocaine.
