A 67 year old Swedish man has been arrested by the Guardia Civil, after allegedly strangling and killing his wife.

The incident happened at around five oclock on Saturday afternoon, in the urbanization of La Siesta.

Emergency teams found the woman and it was evident that she had been dead for several hours.

There is no recorded history of abuse in the relationship. An investigation is being carried out.

Update: The man remains in custody, pending an autopsy which will take place on Monday. The woman had been suffering an illness which causes bruising to the skin, adding doubt to the original strangulation reports.
