The Alicante Prosecutor has requested a sentence of fifteen years in prison for a man accused of allegedly assaulting his partner in the presence of their 3 year old son.
The incident occurred in February 2006, in the Los Balcones urbanization in Torrevieja, where the accused, MT, pulled his partner out of the bedroom in the presence of the son and proceeded to push and hit her repeatedly.
According to the prosecutor, the defendant, after assaulting his partner, kept them all imprisoned in their home for 3 weeks, so as to prevent the woman seeking assistance. He then threatened to kill his partner and persisted with a violent and aggressive attitude.
On May 12 of that year, the accused once again assaulted the woman, at which time she received kicks to the legs.
For these reasons, the prosecution requested a sentence of fifteen years in prison for two counts of abuse, criminal threats and unlawful detention.
An injunction will also be in place preventing the accused from approaching the home, workplace or other place frequently visited by the victim, for two years.
