Young woman stabbed, boyfriend arrested.

A PAISLEY man has been arrested on the holiday island of Gran Canaria after his girlfriend was brutally stabbed.

A dream break for pretty Lindsay Green, her partner James Gilmour and 13 pals in the sun-kissed Spanish resort turned into a nightmare when she had a blade plunged into her back.

The 20-year-old victim suffered a collapsed lung in the horror attack.

Gilmour appeared in a Spanish court on Monday morning but the Paisley Daily Express understands that charges have yet to be brought against him.

Yesterday, a source close to the party of friends who travelled with the couple told the Express: “Everyone is horrified by what has happened to Lindsay.

“It started off as a fun break in the sun but then Lindsay and James had an argument and he went missing for two days.

“Then, when Lindsay and others from the group of pals were sitting in an apartment on Saturday night, she was stabbed in the back.

“Everyone screamed and there was blood everywhere. At first, Lindsay didn’t even know she had been stabbed.

She just thought she had been punched. She ran out into the street screaming and her pals went to help her.”

Cops in Gran Canaria arrested Gilmour the following day.

Friends say Lindsay, from Foxbar, Paisley, had been excited when she jetted out to the Puerto Rico area of Gran Canaria with Gilmour and their pals last week.

But 27-year-old Gilmour is now being held in a Spanish jail, while Lindsay is being cared for by doctors in a hospital on the holiday island.

Her parents Suzanne and Tony jetted out to be with their daughter immediately after they were told of the shocking knife attack.

Lindsay’s distraught friends returned home to Scotland on a late night flight on Monday.

The Express understands that Lindsay, right, ignored medical advice by checking out of hospital so she could be in court on Monday to see Gilmour in the dock.

However, she collapsed after the hearing and was rushed back to hospital.

She is not expected to return to her Paisley home for weeks while she recovers from her injuries.

A spokesman for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office could not say what charges were likely to be raised against Gilmour.

However, the spokesman added: “We can confirm that a British national named James Gilmour was arrested in Gran Canaria on Sunday, April 26.

“We are providing consular assistance to Mr Gilmour and his family.”

There was no answer at Lindsay’s home when the Express called yesterday.
