Ten treated for jellyfish stings on the beaches of Alicante

Ten swimmers in Alicante have been treated for jellyfish stings on the first day of the bathing season in the municipality, according to the Red Cross.

A spokesman for the organization said that since 13:30 on the beaches of San Juan and El Postiguet the yellow flag was raised to warn of caution for jellyfish.

So far seven people have been treated for stings at Postiguet and three more in San Juan.

Today is the first day that the Red Cross began its lifeguard service on the beaches of the capital, They will be in position every Saturday and Sunday in May, then start daily duties from June.
