Guardia Civil officer sacked

An officer of 9 years service in the Guardia Civil of Torrevieja, is to be expelled from the service, after it has been revealed that a clerical error in his application meant he should never have been appointed.

Despite having his diploma signed by the King of Spain, the officer will be forced to leave the service and will have no entitlement to unemployment benefit or other social security claims, and will not be allowed to apply for work in the security services again.

The error has been found when it was discovered that the former soldier had entered the service of the Guardia Civil in an automatic scheme, whereas former soldiers of 3 years service or more are fast tracked into the force. However, this officer fell a few weeks short of the minimum 3 year requirement, so was not eligible to qualify.

There was no question of fraud in this case. It is simply reported that it has taken 9 years for the supreme court to make a decision on the case, which has to find against the officer.

In a final attempt to maintain his position, the officer has written a personal letter to the King to assist.
