Hey kids – Eat fish!

The Minister for Environment, Rural Affairs and Marino, Elena Espinosa, handed out awards today in Madrid,  to a new on-line radio station called FROM RADIO, which was launched to encourage young people and children to eat more fish.

FROM RADIO is the first online radio station created by children, for children, dedicated exclusively to the world of fish. They now have a following of 230 schools and 10.000 schoolchildren between 8 and 12 years of age.

You can visit their website and hear the broadcasts yourself, in Spanish, at their website www.fromradio.es.

In the interest of fairness, it is not compulsory to eat fish. There are other alternative food forms available, including a vegetarian of vegan diet, the options for which have increased a lot in recent years.

A new film is released today called “End of the Line”, which looks at the possibility of a world without fish, caused by over-fishing. The film and campaign are not against fishing, but rather is aiming to promote sensible attitudes to maintaining a balance in the oceans. You can find out more details at their website endoftheline.com.
