Abandoned cat rescued from Metro tunnel

A cat, thought to have been abandoned buy her owner, has been rescued from a life of loneliness and fear in an underground train tunnel in Barcelona.

The cat, which has now been named Forat, has been seem living in the tunnel for several days, without food or water.

A joint operation was launched on July 9 from 00:30, after train services had ended, by the Foundation Altarriba in collaboration with TMB.

The Foundation Altarriba say that this cat may be one of the many animals that are abandoned when summer arrives.

A small team consisting of volunteers, two members of the TMB and the security chief of station, was commissioned to capture the animal. “The cat was scared at first but was won over by stroking. The cat then agreed to enter our cage quickly in the end.

After their rescue, Forat was tested and sterilized. Here health is good and now is waiting for someone to adopt her.
