A boy of around 15 years of age died on Friday at the municipal pool of Muro de Alcoy (Alicante) by drowning, reported local sources and the Center for Information and Coordination of Emergency Unit (CICU).

The incident occurred about 18:00 in the municipal pool, which is supervised by lifeguards. There are currently no details of the specifics of the incident.

A medical team of the health center of Muro de Alcoy and a unit of the Emergency Medical Service (SAMU) attended the scene and tried to resuscitate the child, but could not do anything to save his life.

Local police Muro de Alcoy confirmed the boy to have been a local resident.
