On Friday morning in gaditana de Arcos de la Frontera, Cadiz, Guardia Civil officers attended the tragic scene after a 26 year old female, identified as MIRG, had died after “falling” from a balcony in Plaza del Cabildo, in the town.

As a direct result of the incident, officers entered the property of the woman, later that afternoon, and found the body of an 18 month old baby who had died from asphyxiation as a result of the effects of drowning.

The timeline of events is not yet known as to whether the baby died first or as a result of being left alone after the mother had died. The coroner will determine whether the death was accidental or provoked.

Both the mother and her child were buried on Saturday afternoon in the cemetery of Arcos de la Frontera.
