An 74 year old man has died from heat stroke in Gran Canaria, where temperatures were recording 42 degrees at their height.
According to the Ministry of Health of the Canary Islands Government, the death of this man has been aggravated by existing illnesses.
In addition to the death, a 97 year old man and a woman of 73 had to be admitted to health centres in Gran Canaria, although they are recovering well.
Meanwhile, the Spanish met office have issued a warning for heacy rains and storms in Northern Spain on Saturday morning, and high temperatures in the east and south.
