Burglars hide in false ceiling… Crash!
Officers of the National Police have arrested two men accused of burglary of a bar in Zamora.
The two burglars hid from the police inside a false ceiling, but they failed to anticipate that it may not be strong enough to hold their weight.
The robbery occurred shortly after 2:00, when access to the bar gas gained by forcing open the shutters that protected the entrance. An alarm was raised and the police were quick to attend the scene. Knowing that they had been trapped inside the building, the robbers had a cunning plan to hide in the ceiling gap.
The police entered the premises to carry out a search, only to find the ceiling caving in above them as the two failed robbers dropped to the floor like a sketch from a comedy film.
In the vicinity of the premises the police found a parked car that belongs to one of the detainees, and in its interior many tools that they had stolen that night in previous break ins that night.
The detainees, identified as JCM and SGAM had been arrested hours before for an allegation of a similar crime in the area, but were released without charge. This time, the Keystone Cops decided to check their records and found that the detainees had been arrested on more than 30 previous occasions for similar crimes.
It is not yet know if Hollywood movie makers are seeking the rights to a film, which would be one of the most comical escapades of the year!
