27 year old Michael Eddleston (Doncaster, UK) was arrested by the Spanish National Police after handing himself in at the British Consulate General in Palma de Mallorca this afternoon. Eddleston is accused of three counts of illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
Eddleston’s identity was made public during the launch of Crimestoppers’ Operation Captura 3 in Málaga (southern Spain) on 23 September.
The British Ambassador in Spain, Dame Denise Holt DCMG, said:
‘The arrest of one of the most wanted British criminals in Spain is great news and another example of how the close cooperation between the UK and Spain on security matters works. I want to give a special thanks to the Spanish Ministry of Interior and to the Spanish police forces for their continued support.’
