More Legionnaire’s Disease in Alcoy

200910004legionellaThree new cases of Legionnaire’s Disease have been reported in Alcoy, following the outbreak this summer which affected 11 people and killed a man in his 80s.

The regional health department say only two of these latest cases are connected and, for the moment, is making no formal declaration of a new outbreak.

The Town Hall has sealed off as a precaution two tarmacking machines which were operating in the Beniata area of Alcoy while investigations into the water used by the machinery are carried out.

The summer outbreak was traced to spring water used by other machinery used in the Santa Rosa area of the town.
