Agents of the National Police arrested a 53 year old man in Elche (Alicante) on Monday, after he allegedly sprayed his wife with alcohol, in front of their two children, and then threatening to set her on fire, according to sources from the Provincial Police Station in Alicante.

The incident occurred around 17:45 on Monday, in the marital home, located on the Paseo de Germanies. The man, who has a previous police record, allegedly doused his wife with a bottle of alcohol and threatened to burn her.

However, someone tipped off the local police and was eventually arrested in the same household as the alleged perpetrator of the crimes of threats and abuse, as indicated by the same sources. The man is expected to appear in court on Wednesday, October 14th.
