Child shot and killed by hunters on Tenerife
One child under 17 years old died on Thursday after being hit in the back by a stray bullet during a hunt in La Matanza, Tenerife, according to the Center of Emergency and Security Coordinator.
The incident occurred in the area of Camino Nuevo, where two brothers from La Matanza were hunting rabbits in an area of low scrub and vineyards. One of them spotted an animal and shot, but the bullet struck a child who was walking with his father in the area, both residents of the neighborhood of Ravelo.
Around 19:45, one of the brothers called the emergency services, so officers from the Guardia Civil and Local Police, an ambulance, doctor and a nurse were quick to attend the scene.
On arrival, the medical staff found that the child had suffered a cardiopulmonary arrest following the shooting and after attempting cardiopulmonary resuscitation, could only confirm his death.
