The Guardia Civil removes the last legacy of Roland
The characteristic green colour remains, but is obscured. The patent leather tricorn will still be used for official law enforcement and institutional buildings as is done now.
But Teresa disappear, the French-cap with which the director general of the Civil Guard most contentious in history, Luis Roldan, wanted to modernise the image of armed Institute in early 1989, 21 years ago. His place in the uniform of the Guardia Civil of air will occupy a visor baseball very similar to that adopted a few months ago the National Police also renewed its image.
Change is imminent, sources with the Guardia Civil itself, but there are still some fringe to close the contract with the company that makes the new clothes. In fact, in the past year and half of the new uniform prototypes have already been seen in quarters like those in Torrevieja (Alicante), Sahagún (León) and Las Rozas (Madrid) and in the very headquarters of the Guard Civil street in Madrid Guzmán el Bueno, among others.
Officials serving in these places have served as guinea pigs to test the functionality of the new elements of the uniform and its resistance to daily work, according to sources include armed Institute. Thus, the traditional green shirts will be replaced by poles in two tones with the words Guardia Civil and the symbol in yellow. Gripper pants will give way to a more functional, with side pockets. And the shoes are replaced by qualified boots in internal documents as “multivalent” among other news.
The National Police recently made a renewal of its image in the same line. Last July he presented his new navy blue jersey, no tie, boots instead of shoes and baseball cap similar to that soon begin to wear the guards.
