4 Spaniards die in Peru accident
Four Spanish aid workers have been killed in a highway accident in Peru, Spain´s foreign ministry said Wednesday.
A ministry spokesman said the four women died when the van they were travelling in drove off a mountain road into a ravine Tuesday evening. The accident happened some 20 miles (30 kilometres) outside the city of Cuzco in southeastern Peru.
Five other Spaniards and the Peruvian driver were injured in the accident. They were taken to a clinic in Cuzco, the spokesman said.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity in keeping with ministry regulations, said the four killed were voluntary aid workers. He had no immediate information on which organization they worked for.
