MIJAS HIPODROME THE PERFECT VENUE FOR JEREZ FAIR

The Mijas Hipodrome bécame an authentic fairground last Saturday as the first ever “Vive Jerez en Mijas” Fair took place, filling the grounds with Andalucian charm, flamenco dancing and singing, typical food, colourful tents and equestrian shows.

Over 3,000 people attended the colourful event. The Mayor of Mijas, Antonio Sánchez, and Francisco Lebreros, Deputy Mayor of Jerez, officially opened the fair, which was attended by residents of both municipalities.

The popular event was organised in a very professional manner by the Peña Xerecista de Mijas, and supported by Mijas Town Hall and the Mijas Tourism board. A large number of clubs and associations also participated in the organisation.
Upon the stage performed a variety of groups from the Popular University, including dancers under Victor Rojas, singing by the local group “Semilla Flamenca”, and Enrique Heredia from Jerez.

Entrance was free, and to top it off there was free paella, and carnations, grapes and wine were all freely given out to all visitors.
The Andalucian horses gave the event the finishing touch. Over 100 horses took part in the 13 different areas. There was an impressive exhibition of equine art, and riders of all ages participated in traditional costumes.
