MIJAS OFFERS WIDE RANGE OF ACTIVITIES FOR ELEDERLY

OAPs in Mijas have a busy Schedule ahead of them should they want to take part in the wide range of activities the Councillor for the Third Age has organised for the coming months.
And with activities as wide ranging as Taichi, memory workshops, computing and emotional health advice meetings, it looks like there is something to please just about everyone.
We always try to propose a range of activities specially adapted for retired residents, as the elderly in Mijas tend to be very active, and are generally willing to join in anything we put on. We usually have no shortage of takers,” said Councillor Francisco Cuevas.
The workshops will take place in the “Pensioners Meeting Centres in the three main areas of Mijas. The only requirement to participate is to be aged over 60 and to have an up to date pensioner's license.
The ever popular Memory Workshop will once again be offered at Las Lagunas, Mijas Pueblo and La Cala. There are few places left on the course, so interested parties should enrol as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
The Taichi classes will take place at Las Cañadas Sports Centre. Last year almost 90 OAPs enrolled for this activity, and gained huge benefits from taking part in the classes.
The new classes this year include Emotional Self Care, for those who look after other people. And a course for those who have recently retired is also offered for those who are finding it difficult to make the transition.
Classes in the Popular University will also be offered, with activities such as ball room dancing, Sevillanas dancing, and computing starting in October. These classes all have three different levels, so beginners can feel at ease and more advanced learners can progress.
