FAIRWAYZ GOLF SOCIETY-JOHN SAUNDERS

Despite the worst weather that we at Fairwayz Golf Society have ever started our fortnightly golf challenge,25 of us turned out in hope that the rain would ease off as was forecast.

Unfortunately,by the time it did eventually stop raining, most of us had given up all hope of returning a decent score. The scores were in fact,as bad as the weather; so bad in fact that I am under threat of harm if I so much as report the scores that took the prizes.

In the Gold category, Dave Rae won, closely followed by John Saunders
Best front & back nine winners were Colin Pepperday and Steve Ashurst

Longest drive was Steve Ashurst
Nearest the pin was Steve Lawrence
In the Silver category,Gerry Williams repeated his success when we last played at Vistabella (with the only respectable score),and Barry Wright was runner up

Best front & back nines were Phil Bowditch and Barry Wood
To show that at least one of us could achieve some degree of respectability,Barry Wood also won the Longest drive and Nearest the pin prizes.

Needless to say , no-one won the 2's competition and the ever growing kitty will run over to our next outing at El plantio on 16th.Feb. 10 am. tee off.

A competition was held to guess the total number of balls lost, and it saddens me to report that 62 balls were lost in total.

Final decisions on attending our awaydays at Alenda & Bonalba,on 22/23rd. March with an overnighter in Benidorm are required by El Capitan by 16th.Feb.
