FIRST BOWLS GREEN FOR MOJACAR

In direct response to the demand from the British residents in the Levante district and as promised as part of the election campaign, Mayor Rosa María Cano who said, “This municipal bowling field increases the wide range of sports facilities already in Mojacar and was very demanded by citizens after the private facilities were closed two years ago. We need funding yet, but hopefully get it soon.”

The estimated budget for the works is 125,000€ and is to be situated on a parcel of land close to the hotels in the Marina de la Torre area. For his part, José Fernández Amador, deputy representative of the Municipal Assistance Area of the County Council, stated that “Our obligation is to comply with the demands of the municipalities. They ask us for a bowls green and this is the first time we asked for this time of project. The technical draft has been written and updated.”

Among the features of the bowls green is that it has good, strong access. The floor is to be lined and carpeted with polypropylene fibre together with a CMHR polyurethane, which both conform to the latest fire safety regulations. Once funding is secured, the expected execution time for completing the green is six months.
