Patricia Cockshutt is hoping for some closure after her husband of 53 years, Peter, was stabbed three times in their holiday villa in Costa Del Silencio on February 6 last year.

It is thought Peter, 71, of Brandesburton, was the victim of a bungled burglary.

Two South American teenagers, aged 14 and 16, were charged with his murder and robbery just days afterwards.

They reportedly confessed to the killing.

The court hearing was expected to take place in May last year but the case was been delayed.

Mrs Cockshutt now plans to head to Tenerife on March 1.

She said: “I am going over there to speak to the prosecutors to find out what’s happening. I also need to pick up more of Peter’s belongings.

“I have been told the sentencing trial may take place at the end of March but who knows with the Spanish authorities.”

The family has already told prosecutors in Spain they want to be there to see the teenagers punished.

But they has been warned that, if convicted, the teenagers will only spend a maximum of five years in a young offenders’ institution.

Spanish law states youths cannot spend any longer locked up.

Mrs Cockshutt said: “We know the teenagers will only be locked up for a maximum of five years.

“They have been in custody for more than a year so that will also be taken into account.

“It has been a terrible year and we just want this out of the way.

“Some days I do feel angry, especially when the prosecutor has told us they may only get five years.

“I think it should be longer. It should be a life for a life.

“I am still constantly dealing with paperwork and we still have the property over there, which I don’t know what to do with.

“The authorities in Spain have not kept us informed and the British Embassy can only do so much.

“The judge is hardly ever around because he has to deal with three islands.

“It has been a very difficult time.”

Mr Cockshutt was killed when he seemingly disturbed burglars at his home, after returning from the shops.

His wife had returned to England just hours earlier to oversee repairs to their East Riding home.

The public prosecutor’s office in Tenerife has refused to comment on when sentencing will take place.

The unnamed individual obtained data on 4,000 gamers, according to Spain’s Interior Ministry.

It is claimed he threatened to contact the country’s data protection agency, accusing the firm of negligence.

When Nintendo did not respond, he began leaking some of the information online, said police.

The man was arrested in the southern province of Malaga.

Authorities say he had been planning to release the full contents of the user database onto the internet.

It is unclear if the alleged theft was from Nintendo’s own computer system or that of a third party.

Nintendo said it was unable to comment on the case as is was the subject of of an active investigation by the Spanish authorities.

BBVA sued the borrower to reclaim 28,129 euro of debt outstanding on a 71,225-euro loan after selling the property for 42,895 euros. Under Spanish law, mortgage lenders have a claim on all a borrower’s assets and not just their home, El Pais said. BBVA plans to appeal, it added.

The judge ruled that the house’s fall in value was a direct result of the financial crisis that stems from financial mispractice and it was “morally repellent” that the bank should make additional claims on the borrower, the newspaper said.

The case raises the possibility of claims from hundreds of thousands of borrowers who have been left with debts after their homes were repossessed over the past three years, the newspaper said.

Officers from Almería seized 4.2 kilograms of cocaine, a handgun, ammunition, anabolic steroids, two cars, a night vision monitor, 3,000 euro in cash, fifteen mobile phones and a collection of documents and materials believed to have been used by the criminal gang.

The investigation, which began several months ago, focused initially on the ring leaders of the organization based in Almería, who would provide drugs to smaller time dealers who then sold the drugs directly to the public.

As part of the investigation, officers were able to identify two people who were at the very top of the supply chain, with contacts in Madrid, who in turn fed drugs to similar networks across Spain.

During the course of the investigation it was determined that the organization used so called “mules”, people posing as tourists who would travel to South America by air, to then return to Spain carrying the drugs.

On Christmas Eve, the gang attempted to smuggle 2.5 kilograms of cocaine into the country by this method, believing that there would be fewer checks by law enforcement agents. Officers based at Madrid-Barajas Airport intercepted the courier and arrested a Spanish citizen on a flight from Colombia, via Frankfurt, in which they seized the drugs, which were hidden in bags coated with tracing paper and foam and hidden inside a suitcase.

Before the arrest, the detainee had been approached in the arrivals hall by a Colombian citizen, responsible for organizing the trip, who was also arrested.

A few days after the first arrests in Madrid, the investigation led officers towards Almería, where it was believed that a shipment of drugs had already been made. A surveillance operation was launched in the village of Tabernas, in which the suspect vehicle was detected and followed by the officers to a petrol filling station in Roquetas de Mar, at which point they intercepted the vehicle.

The officers proceeded to arrest the driver, who was accompanied by his 13 year old grandson, and located three packets of cocaine weighing 1.5 kilograms hidden inside the vehicle.

That arrest resulted in further investigations, which triggered the arrest of other members of the organization, resulting in a total of eight arrests being made in the town of Roquetas de Mar.

The operation was conducted by officers of the Drugs Unit and Organized Crime (UDYCO) from Almeria, in collaboration with the Narcotics Group of Madrid-Barajas Airport.

Police have arrested 178 people in 12 countries in swoops on those suspected of forming part of an international crime gang with a large base in Spain, the Interior Ministry said today.

Co-ordinated raids took place in France, Italy, Germany, the United States, Ireland, Romania, Australia, Sweden, Greece, Finland and Hungary, as well as Spain, the ministry said in a statement.

Investigations began two years ago in Spain and have uncovered an international crime organisation involved in credit card fraud, robbery with violence, extortion, sexual exploitation and money laundering.

The gang is believed to have made more than 20 million euros (£16.6 million) from illegal activities and police uncovered 11 fraud laboratories during 84 raids.

A man from the Republic of Ireland has been arrested with his two sons in Spain, suspected of masterminding an international drugs, guns and money laundering crime empire.

The man, in his 50s, was detained in the Malaga area as Irish authorities co-ordinated a series of raids across Europe with counterparts in Spain, Belgium and the UK.

It is understood that more than two dozen people were arrested across the continent, a number of them Irish.

The international crackdown targeted the gang´s multi-million trafficking business from a base on the Costa del Sol.

Connery is one of nearly 30 people indicted in the case involving urban planning in the holiday resort of Marbella.

The judicial sources did not reveal details about the case, but the daily El Mundo said it was related to a villa the actor owned in Marbella, and sold for a high profit.

A four-storey building was then built on that land in 2004 and 2005 on what investigators suspect was an illegal building permit issued under Marbella´s notoriously corrupt mayor, the late Jesus Gil y Gil.

Police searched the offices of several lawyers in the operation Goldfinger, named after the movie in which Connery played James Bond in 1964.

The actor and his wife were summoned to appear in court on May 27.

Glen Tranter, 40, featured on the BBC Crimewatch show on Monday night.

He had fled the UK and was on the run in Spain, but he was spotted in a bar in Benalmadena by suspicious British ex-pats who recognised his face from the TV.

Police were called and Tranter was arrested.

Tranter, whose last known address was Keighley Road, Colne, Lancashire, is wanted on eight charges of sexual offences against girls under the age of 16.

The offences date back to 1992 and are made up of sexual touching of a child through to indecent assault.

Tranter was bailed but failed to attend court and had not been seen since.

Detective Inspector Dave Groombridge from Lancashire Police said: “This development demonstrates how valuable programmes like Crimewatch can be to these types of investigations.”

Tranter is currently detained in Malaga and will be transferred to Madrid for an extradition hearing.

Victims said the “only objective” of the lone gunman was to take boxes of Viagra and cash.

The authorities suspect the 43-year-old man of selling the pills on the black market, where they are sought by users for recreational purposes.

Combined with the illegal drug Ecstasy, the anti-impotence pill is well known on the club scene as Sexstasy.

Viagra manufacturer Pfizer warns the drug should not be taken unless recommended by a doctor.
